DidactLabs Awarded VLAIO Grant to Pioneer Responsible AI in Education

We are incredibly proud to announce that DidactLabs has been awarded an Innovative Starter Subsidy (ISS) by VLAIO, the Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship agency. This is a significant milestone for our team and a powerful endorsement of our mission to reshape the role of artificial intelligence in the classroom.

For educators and institutions, the rise of generative AI has created more problems than solutions. The response has been a frustrating and ineffective cat-and-mouse game, relying on flawed AI detectors that erode trust and policies that simply push AI use underground. This approach fails everyone: it penalizes honest students, misses sophisticated cheating, and, most importantly, does nothing to prepare learners for a future where AI is an everyday tool.

At DidactLabs, we believe there is a better way. Our mission is built on a simple but transformative idea: the solution to the AI dilemma isn't detection, it's transparency.

Fueling Our Mission: What This Grant Enables

The support from VLAIO is more than just funding; it's the fuel that will accelerate our vision into a tangible reality for schools. This grant directly enables us to execute the critical next steps in our journey:

1. Launching Pilot Programs with Innovative Institutions The ultimate test of any educational tool is its impact in a real classroom. This grant allows us to launch structured pilot programs with our first partner schools. We will work closely with educators and administrators to gather feedback, refine our platform, and prove the value of a transparency-first approach to academic integrity and AI literacy.

2. Finalizing Seamless Classroom Integration For technology to be effective in schools, it must be effortless to use. A major focus of our work will be achieving official Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) certification. This will ensure DidactLabs integrates seamlessly with the Learning Management Systems (LMS) that teachers already use every day, like Smartschool, Moodle, and Blackboard, creating a frictionless experience for both staff and students.

3. Building a Foundation of Trust and Security We understand that handling student data is a profound responsibility. The VLAIO grant will support our investment in robust data privacy and security measures, ensuring we not only comply with but exceed the strict standards required in education. This includes engaging with compliance experts to align with regulations and pursue the certifications necessary to be a trusted partner for schools.

This grant is not a destination, but a launchpad. It validates our belief that educators need better tools—not to police their students, but to guide them. It allows us to move faster in building a future where AI is a powerful pedagogical ally, fostering the critical thinking and digital literacy skills that the next generation will depend on.
